The Purpose of the Foundation is to raise, receive and distribute funds for Hillsboro R-3 needs, especially funding for items beyond the district's regular budget. In the form of teacher grants, scholarships, etc., the monies should provide exceptional educational opportunities for students and staff, supporting activities for student and staff leadership and character development.
The Hillsboro R-III Board of Education created the Hillsboro R-III Public School Foundation to meet the needs of students in ways beyond traditional funding sources.
The Purpose of the Foundation is to raise, receive and distribute these funds within the district to teacher grants and scholarships. These monies will provide exceptional educational opportunities for students and staff, supporting activities for student and staff leadership and character development.
The Foundation strives to establish and grow an endowment to perpetuate these funds for educational excellence in the future.
Giving to the Foundation allows donors to deduct contributions as provided in section 170 of the IRS Code. Bequests, legacies, transfers, or gifts to the Foundation are deductible for Federal estate and gift tax purposes. These funds are held and audited apart from the R-III District's deposits and finances.
The Foundation has tax exempt status under IRC Section 501(c)(3) and IRS approved donor status so that donations are tax exempt. We received exempt status June of 2010.
